Oh cool! I'm kind of half ashamed to admit that I'm not running a build server with my current project. But most of it is because I'm 100% OSX these days and I didn't know of any alternatives. Unfortunately, I don't have any spare hardware to run it on, so that makes a build server a lot less attractive. Maybe I need to hit craigslist looking for a Mac Mini :-)

I'll still check out TeamCity though. Thanks for the tip, Tom!

Nice article Noel. You make some very valid arguments. I've been pushing for better CIS at work.

I've been using TeamCity for my integration server.
http://www.jetbrains.com/teamcity/

I hooked up CC.net and that was such a hassle. TC is super simple to setup. Has all the features and a professional web interface. It supports vc2005 sln builds without any setup, notifications, mulit-configs, easy SCM hooks. It had everything I'd want. Free for opensource projects(haven't tested this), free limited edition(me!) and relativily low cost <2k for biz. It really only takes <20 minutes to hookup. Now getting IIS to work..man I must be dumb. I'm going back to apache

The one downside is that its not opensource and runs on Win.

Thanks for the article. I have found a feature matrix for continuous integration systems:

Interesting. I had never heard of Hudson before. Has anybody done a recent comparison of continuous integration build servers? I'd love to read it.
